Its good to learn about “fillers”, ingredients that don’t need to be in the food, like corn. I read that some companies have leftover product from manufacturing their primary products so they make dog food to use it up and add to their profit. The use of by-products was disturbing, as well as what a by-product consists of!
There was good news too. One consumer services site,
offered extensive reviews of the top, healthy dog foods and the better choices they made.
A friend of mine, also a collie breeder, had once sent an email about her choice of dog food with a link to the company. I hadn’t looked at it all that closely before. It has always been our hope that our dogs live long and healthy lives. They seemed healthy and looked beautiful, so we believed we were doing a great job.
